Casa do Sol | From Ruin to Contemporary Living
Description
This house could only exist here.
Set on a hilltop overlooking the Algarve, Casa do Sol began with an existing ruin and a very particular sense of place.
The objective was never to erase what was there, but to build upon it.
The original structure was preserved, reinterpreted and extended to create a contemporary residence that remains connected to its origins. The result is a single-storey home shaped by its position, its orientation and the landscape that surrounds it.
Facing south, the house benefits from an exceptional relationship with natural light throughout the day. The terraces and pool extend the living experience outdoors, while the elevated position opens towards the valley and the Atlantic beyond.
Inside, the architecture remains calm and purposeful. Contemporary spaces are balanced by carefully selected materials and furnishings, including Roche Bobois interiors and a bespoke wine display integrated into the living area.
The house was constructed by Caminho do Liz for a private client, bringing together the architectural vision of the project with the Group's experience in construction and execution.
What makes Casa do Sol particularly compelling is not simply what has been built.
It is the relationship between what existed before and what exists today.
The original ruin gives the property a sense of permanence. The contemporary intervention gives it a new way of living.
A residence with a story that simply cannot be reproduced somewhere else.
